 Short Cycle Predictive Assessment: Using Data to Improve School and Classroom Learning Processes

Purpose: To develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to use short cycle predictive assessments as a way to monitor and improve student achievement.

 

Expected Outcomes:

· Understanding of the role of short cycle predictive assessments (SCPA’s) in the school improvement    process

· Understanding of the role of short cycle predictive assessments as strategic indicators of classroom performance and the role of teachers in using these data to make improvements in the classroom learning system

· Strategies for analyzing and reporting SCPA results to monitor and improve school-level strategies

· Strategies for assisting and supporting grade-levels, departments, and/or classrooms in implementing school-level strategies indicated by SCPA results

 

Target Audience:

Trained School Improvement Teams/Goal Teams and/or teachers using short cycle predictive assessments as strategic indicators of classroom performance

 

Participant Prerequisites:

Successful completion of Planning for Performance Excellence (School Version), Continuous Classroom Improvement, and/or Teacher and Student Partnerships recommended but not required

 

Recommended Time:

1 day workshop for trained School Improvement Teams/Goal Teams, teachers, and/or small group coaching and consulting sessions of 2–5 hours

Additional Materials That Should Be Considered to Support Participant Learning:

· Short cycle predictive assessment data to be supplied by school/district
